ATV Safety Gear
Before you take a ride with your new ATV, be sure to read our helpful guide on ATV safety gear. If you have any questions about necessary safety gear or are still looking for your perfect ATV model, feel free to visit us here in Monee, Illinois!
Helmet
The most important piece of safety gear you need for your ATV is a helmet. In a majority of states, wearing a helmet on your ATV is required by law, with some ordinances stating it must be approved by the Department of Transportation to meet criteria. When shopping for your helmet, it’s extremely important that you’re able to try it on beforehand. This will help you ensure that the helmet is well-fitted and that the visor doesn’t obstruct your vision in any way.
Clothing
While ATV racers and stuntmen may need to invest in padded clothing to protect them in case of a fall, this likely isn’t the case for you. Unless you plan on hitting some intensely difficult trails, or you’re still learning to ride your ATV, you should be fine with a long-sleeved shirt and jeans. Riding gloves and boots, however, are exceptions to this rule. Because these vehicles kick up a variety of debris and dirt, it’s extremely important that you protect your hands and feet as you ride.
